Fall – Week 2

Hey WBLer’s,

This last weekend we had Jason Strand pinch-hitting for me as CP.  It was nice to come for just one service for a change.  On Sunday I was able to participate in a 37 mile bike ride around that lakes of Mpls through something called the Mpls Bike Tour.  I had a blast doing this with a good friend of mine.  Someone mentioned that over 6000 people were expected to participate and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s how many were there.  It was a sea of people from start to finish.  We were moving pretty fast and finished in just under 2 1/2 hours on our bikes.  If you like biking, I’d recommend carving this into your schedule next year.

On a less-personal note, I’ve heard from a couple of the WB staff people some of the need for help as we’ve added this 4th service.  Here’s a couple ways you could help:

  Parking attendants needed

Volunteer Central host team to help care for our volunteers, keep shelves stocked and monitor the Vol Central room

Cafe personnel – especially for the meals on Saturday nights.

Kid’s volunteers – I know they could use help in most of the kids areas, but I specifically know about the need in the Elementary area for Greeters, Popcorn poppers, clean up crew, someone to check out kids and help with getting to know and meet kids.

Many of these volunteer roles would still allow you to attend a service.  For example, if you came early, helped check in kids in K-rock and helped make some popcorn, you could still attend that hour’s service.  This would be a huge help to our staff by allowing them to connect more with kids and parents.  All that to say, you might be surprised about how even a little amount of time might make a big difference in our programs.

If you’re a regular WBL attender, let me encourage you to find a spot.  Big or small commitment, we can put your to work.  Email me back if you have any questions or interest (don.graffam@eaglebrookchurch.com).

Thanks all!

Don
